I didn't know Billy Idol had sore contact lens eyes after making this video. Perhaps an aching lip too from all that superb left hand side curling?
The meaning of the song speaks of a painful relationship betrayal and break-up. Eyes devoid of any love, lifeless; loosing what was alive and new, faceless, a living hell. I doubt very much it has anything to do with a suggested earlier horror film going by the same name.
For the sake of the director and audience: one tear would have simply made it obvious.....does that marginal tear meniscus glint looks slightly high on the right eye to you?
