Leaf people

In just a few poetic minutes, ordinary foliage transforms into living, breathing figures - humanoid forms stitched together from leaves, bark, and the restless breath of the wind.

These surreal leaf people are the landscape. Bodies rustle, limbs sway like branches, and faces emerge from layered greens as if nature itself decided to stand up, walk and dance.

Mamta B Herland’s blend of storytelling and nature symbolism turns the familiar into something mythic. The film feels less like a narrative and more like a half-remembered dream: soft light filtering through canopies, slow, deliberate movements, and that constant dialogue between the human form and the organic world that surrounds (and consumes) it. It’s meditative, slightly eerie, and strangely tender - the kind of short that lingers long after the last leaf falls.

This video stands out for its quiet restraint and emotional texture. It whispers have a pleasant autumn session, courtesy of the trees.
